The arrival of winter at Graceland was always special time of year. It meant the holiday season was fast approaching and the anticipation of all the fun things the season would bring, including decorating for Christmas, the annual New Year’s Eve party, Elvis’s birthday, building snowmen in the front yard of Graceland and more.

Graceland kicked off the holiday season on Friday, November 21 during the annual lighting ceremony at Graceland. This year's festivities included country music star Martina McBride and painter Thomas Kinkade. In addition, Marlo Thomas, Tony Thomas and patients from St. Jude joined us as well to help launch their 2008 Thanks and Giving campaign.

Tours of Graceland Decorated for the Holidays

During the holiday season, the tour of Graceland is extra special with the interior and exterior of the mansion decorated for the holidays. On the grounds of Graceland, see traditional lights and decorations including hundreds of blue lights along the driveway, a life-size Nativity scene, Santa and his sleigh and much more originally displayed by Elvis. The interiors of Graceland mansion will also be decked in Elvis’ Christmas décor for the holiday season and will include his traditional red velvet drapes and Presley family Christmas artifacts on display for the throughout the Graceland mansion tour including the Jungle Room.
In addition, for the 2008 holiday season, visitors to Graceland will have the opportunity to view rarely-seen artifacts throughout the tour. Included will be items from Elvis' personal wardrobe collection, home movie footage, guitars from Elvis' personal collection, gifts given to Elvis by friends and family and lots more.
